What's the difference between the CDI Early Learning Center (ELC) and the other CDI locations?
The CDI Early Learning Center (ELC) is a free play and learning space, open to all children ages 0-6 and their families. CDI clinic locations provide therapeutic services for infants and young children.
Is ELC really free?
Yes, CDI ELC is maintained by our generous volunteers partnerships and a variety of funding sources.
Is the Early Learning Center a Preschool?
No, we are a free drop in play place. However we do have a Headstart preschool class located on the campus of our Canoga Park ELC, that is staffed through Child Care Resource Center.
How do I register/sign up to come into the ELC?
At your first visit, It only takes a few minutes with one of our helpful volunteers to enter some basic demographic info on an iPad. Your info will remain confidential.
When do you offer the free developmental screenings at ELC?
ELC offers free developmental screenings on the 3rd Saturday of the month between 10-3. Please check the current calendar for any changes to the schedule. We also offer free developmental screenings through telehealth or online. See more information here.
What's the difference between a free developmental screening and a developmental evaluation?
A Developmental Screening is a quick general measure of your child’s development. A screening helps to identify whether your child needs further evaluation to determine if your child has a developmental delay or disability.
A Developmental evaluation identifies a child’s needs in all areas of development and can determine the existence of a delay or disability. For more information on the difference, click here.

What is CDI's VIP Program?
CDI’s Vulnerable Infant Parent Program (VIP) provides comprehensive early intervention services for babies from birth to age three who are at risk for developmental delays due to medical conditions or complications during the pregnancy or birth at CDI’s Tarzana clinic on the campus of Providence Tarzana Hospital.
What happens when my child turns three and he/she is receiving early intervention services?
