Jamie Olivas, MA

Jamie Olivas is the Program Supervisor for CDI’s Early Learning Center (ELC). Jamie holds a B.A. from UCLA in English Literature and a M.A. from Ryokan College in Counseling Psychology. Jamie’s passion for early education led her to the Child Development Institute where she currently oversees all service learning students and programming, as well as the Developmental Screening and Certificate Program. For over a decade, Jamie worked as a preschool teacher with children and families in underserved communities in both the Los Angeles School District and Head Start Program. As a Lead Teacher, Jamie mentored students from CSUN in programs promoting early literacy and parent engagement.

Jamie is dedicated to helping families better understand their child’s individual development and assisting families in accessing community resources and referrals.  Jamie feels that the best part of working at the ELC is empowering families to advocate for their children and encouraging them to embrace their child’s unique talents, abilities and learning styles that ultimately promote school readiness. Jamie is excited to come to work every day and is inspired by the diverse families and volunteers that are a part of the ELC.
